چکیده

Abstract We present K -band (24 GHz) images of 731 compact extragalactic radio sources with submilliarcsecond resolution, based on interferometric observations made the Very Long Baseline Array 10 telescopes during 29 day long sessions spanning from 2015 to 2018 and recorded at 2048 Mbps. Many these are imaged resolution for first time frequencies above X band (8 GHz). From each images, we derive following source properties: peak brightness, core total flux density, ratio (compactness measure), radial extent, structure index, size, jet direction. The vast majority multiple epochs, providing insights into their temporal behavior. use was motivated by fact that generally intrinsically more higher frequencies, as well factor 3 improvement in interferometer relative historically standard S / (2.3/8.4 used a large amount reference frame calibrator work. Lastly, most here component third International Celestial Reference Frame, serve characterize objects Astronomical Union standard.

Definition of the Celestial Ephemeris Origin and of UT 1 in the International Celestial Reference Frame ?

The adoption of the International Celestial Reference System ICRS, and of the corresponding Frame, ICRF, by the 23rd General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union, calls for a redefinition of the departure point on the true equator. Several possibilities have been suggested. This paper considers the use of the non-rotating origin (Guinot 1979). The " Celestial Ephemeris Origin " (CEO...

On accuracy assessment of celestial reference frame VLBI realizations

In this paper, we propose to use the scatter of celestial pole offset (CPO) series obtained from VLBI observations as a measure of the accuracy of the celestial reference frame (CRF) realizations. Several scatter indices (SIs) including those proposed for the first time are investigated. The first SI is based on analysis of residuals of CPO series w.r.t. Free Core Nutation (FCN) model. The seco...

Non-linear VLBI station motions and their impact on the celestial reference frame and Earth orientation parameters.

The increasing accuracy and growing time span of Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observations allow the determination of seasonal signals in station positions which still remain unmodelled in conventional analysis approaches. In this study we focus on the impact of the neglected seasonal signals in the station displacement on the celestial reference frame and Earth orientation paramete...

Diffraction-limited K-band imaging at the Multiple Mirror Telescope with adaptive optics

Low spatial frequencies of atmospheric turbulence are specially troublesome to astronomers because the phase distortions they cause have large amplitude. We have begun experiments at the Multiple Mirror Telescope (MMT) to remove these errors with tip, tilt, and piston control of pieces of the wave front defined by the telescope’s six 1.8 m primary mirrors. We show long exposure images taken at ...

Se p 20 02 The Hawaii - AAO K - band Galaxy Redshift Survey — Paper I : The Local K - band Luminosity Function

We present the K-band local luminosity function derived froma sample of 1056 bright (K < 15) K-selected galaxies from the Hawaii-AAO K-band redshift survey. The Hawaii-AAO K-band redshift survey covers 4 equatorial fields with a total area of 8.22 deg 2. We derive both the non-parametric and Schechter luminosity function from our data, and determine M * (K) = −23.70 ± 0.08 + 5 log 10 (h), α = −...
